Role overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Senior Specialist – Pain Medicine to join our private healthcare facility in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions. The role requires a multidisciplinary approach to pain management, combining interventional procedures, pharmacological treatment, rehabilitation, and patient education to improve pain control, function, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions. • Diagnose and develop individualized, evidence-based pain management plans. • Manage conditions including chronic back and neck pain, neuropathic pain, musculoskeletal pain, cancer-related pain, postoperative pain, and other complex pain syndromes. • Perform interventional pain procedures within the physician's training and approved scope of practice. • Utilize appropriate diagnostic imaging and investigations to support clinical decision-making. • Perform procedures such as nerve blocks, epidural injections, facet joint injections, radiofrequency procedures, and other appropriate interventions. • Provide medication management and monitor treatment effectiveness and potential adverse effects. • Collaborate with physiotherapists, psychologists, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other multidisciplinary professionals. • Develop comprehensive multimodal treatment plans combining interventional, pharmacological, physical, and behavioral approaches. • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, expected outcomes, and self-management strategies. • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated. • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records and procedure documentation. • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement, and research activities. • Support the supervision and mentoring of junior physicians and clinical staff. • Participate in teaching, CME, and professional development activities. • Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection-control, medication-management, and applicable healthcare regulations.

Requirements • MD, MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent Medical Degree from a recognized and accredited institution. • Completion of an accredited specialist training program in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, or another relevant specialty . • Recognized postgraduate qualification in the relevant specialty. • Fellowship or advanced training in Pain Medicine/Pain Management is highly preferred. • American Board Certification in Pain Medicine or equivalent internationally recognized board certification is preferred. • UK CCT doctors preferred • Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization clinical experience in Pain Medicine/Pain Management or a relevant specialty with substantial pain-management experience. • Demonstrated experience managing acute, chronic, neuropathic, musculoskeletal, and complex pain conditions. • Proven experience performing interventional pain procedures within the candidate's scope of practice. • Strong knowledge of multimodal and evidence-based pain management. • Experience with image-guided procedures using fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound. • Current BLS certification ; ACLS certification is an advantage. • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. • Strong commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based medicine. • Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage. • Candidates must meet all applicable UAE licensing, credentialing, and professional classification requirements.
