We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers. We're hiring a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer to build the core digital infrastructure for a next-generation energy company. You'll work closely with product across the full back-end and engineer backend systems that are second to none.
Responsibilities • Construct a real-time digital twin of our renewable generation and customer demand • Develop messaging interfaces with our third-party providers • Build high-volume pipelines for processing customer energy consumption • Build the backend of a world-class energy app • Take ownership of projects, adapt to new business needs and drive change
Requirements • Demonstrable excellence as a software engineer • Ideally 2+ years of experience • Proven ability to define and build complex systems • Hands-on experience shipping highly available production systems • Clear communication • Bonus: infrastructure as code (e.g. AWS CDK); experience in the energy sector; experience shipping consumer-facing products
