Expectations A technical leader who transitions from strictly writing code to architecting scalable systems, mentoring junior developers, and aligning technical solutions with business goals. They ensure projects are delivered efficiently and establish best practices across the development lifecycle. A senior engineer has the capacity to own end-to-end outcomes, plan projects, and make critical technical decisions independently. They act as a "force multiplier" by coaching junior developers, refining code quality, and reviewing pull requests. They are able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and write clear technical documentation.
Requirements
- Technical Leadership & Architecture: Leads system design in their domainby creating high-level and low-level technical specifications and evaluating system architectures to ensure security, reliability, and scalability. Take part in the technology selection process by evaluating frameworks and tools for the project. Enforce best practices by setting and maintaining engineering standards regarding code quality, automated testing, and CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment).
- Mentorship & Team Guidance: Providing constructive feedback and coaching to junior and mid-level engineers to facilitate their career growth. Reviewing code submitted by team members to identify bugs, improve performance, and ensure adherence to standards.
- Project & Task Management: Breaking down complex features into actionable tasks and establishing realistic timelines and resource estimates. Identifying and mitigating technical risks before they impact product delivery. Contributes to identifying and resolving the technical debt backlog.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Translating technical concepts into business terms for non-technical stakeholders, product managers, and executive management. Collaborating with various departments to ensure software solutions directly meet market and user demands.
- Problem Solving & Maintenance: Diagnosing the root cause of the most difficult software issues and building practical, permanent solutions. Refactoring and optimizing existing legacy codebases to improve performance and maintainability.
Qualifications
- Strong fundamentals of software development and computer sciences.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language used at Callsign.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to design large-scale, resilient, and secure software architectures
