Estimated end-of-service gratuity
AED 21,000.00
| Years | Days per year | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 21 | AED 21,000.00 |
What this estimate assumes
- The statutory cap is 2 years' total remuneration. Without a total-pay figure the cap has been applied against basic salary, which is lower than the law allows, so this estimate errs low.
- Daily wage is basic salary divided by 30.
- Excluded from the calculation: housing, transport and other allowances.
- Excluded from the calculation: commission, bonuses and overtime.
- Excluded from the calculation: unpaid leave, which does not count toward continuous service.
How gratuity is calculated in the UAE
- Gratuity is payable after one full year of continuous service. Below that, the entitlement is nil.
- The first five years accrue at 21 days of basic salary per year; each year beyond five accrues at 30 days.
- Total gratuity is capped at two years' total remuneration, not two years' basic salary.
- Under the 2021 law an employee dismissed for cause retains the end-of-service entitlement, which earlier law forfeited.
